Fulfilled 2016

I declared my theme for 2016 to be "fulfilled" - a more fulfilled life, a more content life, a slower pace and a more focused approach for our family.

Yes, I declare words of the year - and I encourage you to do the same! Themes and missions and words that declare God's intention for your life are great ways to repeat His goodness in our daily lives.

Ephesians 5:18 commands "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit."

God COMMANDS us to be filled with the Spirit. Why would He command us and not just suggest it? I believe that God wants us to rely solely on the Holy Spirit for fulfillment in our lives. We try so very hard to fill our lives with synthetic things: alcohol, drugs, shopping, material items, even relationships. These things will always fall short and fail us because they are of this world, and not HIM.

God calls us to be authentically and completely satisfied with Him! His Spirit gives us power at any given moment, in any situation, in any circumstance.

Take a moment and explore what you're trying to do in your own life with your own strength - for me, this is changing my nutrition up from pre-competition to post-competition. This might sound trivial but if you love to eat (which EVERYONE loves to eat) you might understand the power of food and food choices. Switching from a very restrictive diet to reversing out of that has been a supreme test for my discipline and desires!

When we attempt to do things in our own strength, we inevitably are met with worry, destruction, a bad attitude, unhealthy relationships, jealousy, resentment. We simply are NOT enough to fulfill for the long term. And neither is anyONE or anyTHING else!

I encourage you to be honest with God about your needs and press into Him, asking Him to help you in every moment today. I am certainly going to!

I love The Message version of Galatians 3:3:

"Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God's message to you?Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren't smart enough or strong enough to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it?"

Let God complete you - and fill you each and every day!
